At approximately 9 a.m., on Thursday, Dec. 8, Metro Transit Police say that there was an argument among people on the train platform at the Benning Road Metro Station in Northeast DC, which left a woman and two teens with various injuries.

According to police, one of the teens suffered possible life-threatening injuries, while the woman and the other minor were evaluated and are being treated for what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.

Officials say that following the shooting the suspect fled the station. No descriptive information was provided by investigators, who noted that there is “no ongoing threat” to the community at large.

The shooting comes hours after an off-duty federal officer fatally shot a person at the Metro Center Station along DC’s Red Line on Wednesday night.

In response to the shooting, trains were bypassing the Benning Road Station on the Blue/Silver line, though there were shuttle buses made available for commuters.

Silver Line trains will run between Ashburn and Stadium-Armory, halting service before Benning Road. Blue Line trains are single tracking between Stadium-Armory and Addison Road, bypassing Benning Road.
